Important Notice Regarding Visits to Giverny
________________________________________________
We would like to inform our clients that, starting this year 2026, the entry organization at the Monet Foundation in Giverny has been changed directly by the site.
After more than 10 years of working with the Monet Foundation, the new access conditions have made the organization of visits much more complicated, especially for small companies like ours, which focus on small-group tours.
In the morning, between 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., priority is now given to boats, sometimes carrying more than one hundred people, as well as to large groups of 20 visitors or more. In practice, this morning time slot is now mainly reserved for large groups.
As a result, the entry times for small groups and individual visitors have been pushed back. Small groups, individual visitors, and other guests are therefore more concentrated in the following time slots, which makes access to the site more complicated and can create longer waiting lines.
For our small-group tours, morning entry is generally only possible around 10:00 / 10:30 a.m. This delay can slightly disrupt the visit schedule and may require us to adapt the organization of the day.
We are concerned that, over time, access to Giverny may become increasingly reserved for large organized groups, to the disadvantage of small groups and individual visitors. It is already becoming more difficult to visit freely on your own, as even buying an individual ticket can sometimes involve a long wait ( 1-2 hours ), with available entry times pushed back by several hours.
For this season, we are still continuing to offer Giverny tours in the morning and in the afternoon. However, visitors should be aware that access to the site may be slowed down by waiting lines, high attendance, and an organization that is not managed by our company. Even with reserved tickets, immediate entry cannot always be guaranteed, as access is controlled directly by the Monet Foundation.
In the afternoon, the site can also be very crowded, with heavy attendance in both the gardens and Claude Monet’s house.
Our philosophy remains to offer small-group tours that are more personal, more comfortable, and of higher quality. We do everything we can to provide the best possible experience for our guests, but we unfortunately depend on the entry rules imposed by the Foundation.
Thank you for your understanding. We kindly invite you to allow some flexibility in the schedule of the visit.
Your guide will accompany you for approximately 30 minutes in Claude Monet’s gardens in Giverny, introducing you to the history of the site, the main areas of the gardens, and Monet’s Impressionist world.
The visit inside Monet’s house is self-guided, as guided tours are not permitted inside the house. Before entering, your guide will provide you with the necessary information so you can fully enjoy this part of the visit on your own.
After the guided introduction in Monet’s gardens, you will have approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of free time.
During this time, you can visit Claude Monet’s house at your own pace, as guided tours are not allowed inside the house. You may also enjoy a walk through the charming village of Giverny, discover its peaceful streets, local galleries, cafés, and the unique atmosphere that inspired many Impressionist artists.
This free time allows you to explore the site more comfortably and enjoy Giverny at your own rhythm.
After your free time in Giverny, you will meet your guide/driver at the agreed meeting point for the return journey by minivan.
You will travel back comfortably in a small-group minivan, allowing you to relax after your visit to Monet’s gardens, his house, and the village of Giverny.
The tour ends with drop-off at the original departure point, or according to the arrangements specified in your booking.
