FRENCH_FINE_CUISINE
They met at Restaurant Antoine in 2011. Ryunosuke Naito, Japanese, trained in some of Paris’s most prestigious houses including Taillevent and Meurice. Kwen Liew, Malaysian, equally passionate about gastronomy. Together they opened Pertinence in 2017 near Champ de Mars, and received their Michelin star in 2018. Liew became the first Malaysian woman ever recognized by Michelin. The space announces itself as understated elegance, white minimalist setting with light wood lattes and Knoll chairs, intimate and cosy, exactly like their character. The kitchen sits open. Only fourteen covers per service, making every meal feel like private ceremony rather than restaurant experience.
They compose market cuisine with intense flavors at four hands, offering French culinary tradition a delicious lift through Japanese technique and sensibility. Peas soup arrives as garden of freshness, concentrated essence of vegetable announcing the philosophy of simple and good without ostentation. Mushroom fricassee with parsley, perfect egg dusted with parmesan. Roasted duck with small potatoes. Melon soup with lemon foam and yogurt sorbet. The Prestige menu arrives as seven-course journey through their current vision. Dishes are creative and draw inspiration globally while remaining rooted in French tradition. The underground wine cellar, personally fetched by the chef-server, holds treasures carefully selected. The couple moves seamlessly between kitchen and dining room.
Open Tuesday through Saturday, lunch 12h15 to 14h, dinner 19h30 to 22h. Closed Sunday and Monday. Closed Tuesday lunch. The experience justifies its Michelin recognition completely. This is dining where two passionate voices become one through discipline, technique, and genuine love of both tradition and innovation.
