TRADITIONAL_CUISINE
Hestia, goddess of the hearth, presides over this restaurant that absolutely oozes cachet. White beams, stone walls, mirrors arrive as honest decoration that announces beauty without pretense. Located two steps from Notre-Dame Cathedral on Rue de la Huchette in the Latin Quarter, the space feels like an oasis of calm in a bustling yet central location. Normandy-born chef Loïc Dantec, previously at 114 Faubourg, devises seasonal menu only with dishes that hit the mark every time. His partner Filipe Fernandes directs the dining room with obvious seriousness and competence. The service arrives phenomenal, professional yet friendly, attentive without hovering.
The menu celebrates French tradition prepared with obvious care. Cantal pork entrecôte cooked over open fire with sweet spices arriving tender and properly balanced. All meat arrives grilled to perfection on the barbecue, then carved tableside with precision. Octopus arriving as seasonal special with textural joy. Fresh fish arriving with beans that accompany perfectly. The chef cooks without showboating, making flavor the priority. Seasonal ingredients treated with respect. The wine cellar holds thoughtfully selected bottles. White tablecloths announce formality without coldness.
Open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner. Métro Saint-Michel Notre-Dame or Cluny La Sorbonne. Parking available at Indigo Place Saint-André des Arts. This is dining where conviviality meets excellence, where French cuisine arrives executed with discipline and genuine passion for flavor.
