Upon composing Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky takes inspiration from the legend of the immaculate bird to create some of the most beautiful music aver written for the ballet. When creating the choreography for this score in 1895, Marius Pepita created the myth of the dancer-swan, the ultimate ballerina. In 1984, Rudolf Noureev proposes a new version of this mythical ballet and chooses to give it a Freudian dimension, illuminating Thaikovsky’s poetic dream with a desperate profoundness.
