Village of Giverny
Giverny is a beautiful little village at 75km far from Paris. It’s name sounds immediately as the cradle of the Impressionism and kept a moving authenticity. Flooded under the waterfalls of flowers, Giverny imposes its style and whispers its history.
Claude Monet noticed the village of Giverny while looking out of a train window. He made up his mind to move there and so he rented a house in the area surrounding it. In 1890 he had enough money Monet decided to buy the house and land nearby to create the magnificent gardens he wanted to paint. Monet embellishes the garden by crashing flowers which quickly grown and can inspire him. In ecstasy in front of this most idyllic place he will write to his friend Duret : “I am in the delight, Giverny is a magnificent country for me”. Developing his talent for gardening, he is given more and more personality to the place so that his paintings can reflect his state of mind. Giverny will become his intimate garden. Some of his famous paintings “Glycines”, “Coin de l’étang à Giverny”, “Nymphéas” and more, were inspired by his garden in Giverny. He had made a real art work of his garden starting from scratch. ..
